Trachea

Tomorrow morning a doctor will be sending a small camera down Mom's trachea to see if the swelling in her trachea and vocal folds has gone down enough to remove the breathing tube. If the swelling hasn't gone down, they still need to remove the breathing tube at this point, so they will have to do an additional surgery called a tracheostomy. Please pray that the swelling has gone down when the doctors inspect Mom's trachea tomorrow morning! We've seen how additional surgeries cause more setbacks in Mom's recovery.

The good news for today is that Mom is definitely responding with eye blinks when we ask her to. We are really hoping that a tracheostomy is not necessary so she can continue healing and improving.

Sarah - Thank you so much for these blogs - this is my second attempt to respond. I know you are being stretch beyond limmits you knew possible. I'm just touched that you are unselfish enough to provide this communication.

We will continue to pray and of course let me know if there is anything I can do for the family. Cooking? Cleaning? Toting Christopher around. Let me know!

Love Lilly - Please tell your mom I miss her - I missed her before all this happened and now I would just give anything to have a cup of coffee together.

Dear Palmer family,

You have all been ever in my thoughts and prayers and on my heart since I heard about your mom. I have been so aware of the impact that this has had on so many. Sweet Sandy has blessed and touched the lives of so many people and has loved unselfishly on anyone who would let her! We Kings are all so thankful that the Lord saw fit to have our lives intersect with her, and all of you, for the short time that we lived in Grass Valley - our time there was all the richer for it! We love you all and are keeping you and your mom (and sweet bride, John) in our prayers daily.

God bless and hold you tight,

Carolyn King

Dear Sarah,
I was praying this morning and had something come to mind that I thought I would share.... Often times in my own home I will play worship music on the c.d. player NOT loud enough to hear (with 3 kids, a dog, and the business phone etc... it adds to the confusion) BUT I personally take comfort and feel strenghtened to know THE WORD OF THE LORD is at work POWERFULLY I feel, on my behalf! So I encourage you if it doesn't interfere with hospital equipment, to consider having God's word through worship playing 24/7! Oh that our souls will rejoice in our LORD! His Love for each of you is everlasting and new every morning!
Praying for all of you!!!

Hi Sarah,

Thank you so much for posting the blogs so that we can stay current with our praises and prayers for your mom. I am so very happy to hear that she has shown responsiveness after her long sleep. Please know there are lots of prayer warriors praying for your mom. My women's bible study group and Sunday fellowship group are praying for wisdom for the doctor's and hospital staff, physical strength and healing for your mom, and a peace and confidence in the Lord's sovereignty for you, your siblings, and your dad.

Daryl Sawtelle Winslow (your mom's cousin)

Sarah,
You don't know me, but I was a friend of Jonathan's when he was involved with ETS. I no longer have a way of contacting him, but I wanted to let him know that I am praying for your family and your mom's safe recovery! The Lord is always good and faithful to those who love Him, and I believe with all my heart that He will bring to pass only the best in every situation. My prayers are with you. If you would pass along my regards to Jonathan I would be very greatful. God bless you and keep you in His love.

Sarah, thankyou for your updates. We heard Sunday afternoon from Emily and have been praying fervently ever since. You have done such a good job putting words to your thoughts and emotions. I wish I could do the same but I'm still in the stage of shock and confusion over all this. Having gone through brain surgery with Christopher not too long ago I can relate to some of what you are all going through and my heart hurts for you and with you. Your mom holds a very special place in my heart. There really is no one else like her- so giving, so enthusiastic, so interested in the world and the people around her. It would be difficult to list the ways her life and her friendship have touched me. What an example she is of a Godly woman. Please send my love and hugs to her when you can. Know that many throughout southern California are lifting your family up in prayer.

dearest sarah, jonathan, emily, christopher, jon,

first know that the six of you are in our meditations, prayers and thoughts. we love your mom very much and have enjoyed lots
of laughter, sharing and connecting over the last 10 years we have been neighbors; especially the first 5 years!!!

your dad shared your mom's stroke with us at the mailbox on saturday night and we just wanted you to know that we are only a
phone call away for anything..... laundry, groceries, meals, airport runs, animal's, watering indoor plants, p/u mail & paper, thanksgiving dinner.

we will be home all week, so call or email if we can do anything to support, help and express our love of sandy and her family. take care and sarah, thank you dear for the blog pages~ it is wonderful to be able to know how life is going for your mom.

give her a big hug and kiss, tell her she won't have to do any shoveling of the road this winter or brush clearning~ promise!!! christopher looks like it will be you, bob, jon reed and myself!!! talked to jon reed and lorelly who also are here sending positive thoughts, warm energy, prayers and lots of love with our family your way.

tell your mom, we love her and miss her presence on the road. was blessed with an update a few weeks ago and she was so full of energy as we shared the most important part of our lives with each other~ our eight young adults!!!

take care and know we are here,
love,
janie and bob

Dear Sarah, Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with updates of your Mom. I know it cannot be an easy task!
Our family prays for her and each of you throughout the day. I am thankful to know that God can communicate with your Mom even when she can't communicate with others. We pray that she would hear His voice and experience His comfort. He grieves right along with her and those grieving for her.
May God bless you and your family and encourage you in the midst of this situation.

Dear Sarah and Palmer family,

What a gift to be able to keep up with your Mom's progress this way, so we can be praying very specifically for her and for each of you, too.

We knew your family long ago when you lived in Irvine and reconnected when Emily and our son, Nathan, started Biola.

My cousin survived a serious brain aneurysm about 7 years ago and is home enjoying her grandchildren, cooking and baseball. We pray it will soon be the same for your Mom!

Please give both your Mom and Dad our love....praying for each one of you....Sandy, John, Emily and her Jonathan (plus one to come), Christopher, Sarah and your fiance, too.

Fondly in Christ,

Sharon and Dennis Phinney
